Spring Term Gift Aid boosts donations by £31K
22 September 2011 at 12:24
Thanks to the kind people who ticked our sponsor card's Gift Aid box last spring, we've just received an extra £31K from the taxman.
Gift Aid is worth a staggering extra 25% of every donation given by a UK taxpayer. This is because HMRC refunds to Readathon the tax you've paid when you earned the money you donated. So if you pledge £10, they give us another £2.50.
No matter how small your donation, Gift Aid soon adds up. For the Spring Term, it added up to £31,528.60!
But we can only claim Gift Aid if you tick the box and provide your full name and home address. (The format is shown at the top of each sponsor card.) So if you're a UK taxpayer, do please do fill it in. This tiny extra effort makes a huge difference.
