Remembering Henry, our Young Ambassador

Remembering Henry

30 July 2016 – It is with immense sadness that Readathon learnt of the passing of Henry, our wonderful Young Ambassador, yesterday afternoon.

Henry was so full of life and vitality; he touched all who met him and his positive attitude to life was an inspiration to others.

Despite his illness and own worries he was passionate about his role as Readathon’s Ambassador and gave much of his energy to our charity in order to help other children. We thank Henry and his family for all the support they have given Readathon.

We will always remember Henry for his boundless energy, his huge engaging smile and his ability to light up a room. It has been a privilege to know him. The thoughts of everyone at Readathon are with Henry’s family at this very sad time.

Henry was born with half a heart, but stole the hearts of thousands when he appeared in a film about our work at Gloucester Royal Hospital with Children in Need.  He inspired hundreds of schools to run Readathon and we formally recognised his immense contribution by making him our Young Ambassador – a role he took on with relish. Robert and Laura have set-up a website for Henry here.
